A refrigerated body on the Japanese HINO 300 delivery chassis. The refrigeration unit sits above the cab and takes none of the body volume. On the right there is a side door: on a city round the driver unloads from the pavement and does not shuffle cargo to reach the middle of the body. At the rear there are hinged doors with cam-bar locks — two bars per leaf. Reflective corner markers run around the body, with a side guard and an underrun bar below.

FAQ about the HINO 300 reefer
Because there it takes not a centimetre of usable volume. The condenser mounts on the front wall above the cab and the evaporator goes under the roof inside. The alternative is an under-mounted unit, but on a delivery truck the space under the frame is already crowded with the tank, batteries and spare wheel.
On a city round the vehicle stands along the kerb. Through the side door the driver unloads straight onto the pavement and takes a box from the middle of the body without pulling out everything nearer the rear doors. On a round with a couple of dozen stops that is the main time saving.
The bar clamps the leaf top and bottom at once, two bars per door. On a reefer that matters more than on a dry van: the seal only works when the leaf is pressed evenly, and a finger-wide gap cancels out both the panel and the unit.
We select by body volume and duty, not by the make of the chassis. On a delivery HINO 300 the mid-range models are usually enough: Elinge C2–C3 or Carrier Citimax. Tell us the volume and the temperature you need and we will name the model.
It is a Japanese delivery truck with a long-life diesel and straightforward servicing. For a reefer what matters is its rear-axle margin: a refrigerated body weighs noticeably more than a dry one, and on a weak chassis the payload melts away. Our other bodies on this make are on the HINO page.
