Carrier and Elinge refrigeration units are charged with refrigerant. The factory sets the charge for each unit series — from 0.9 to 3.9 kg; it is not guessed from the van size. Refrigerant is not consumed in operation: if there is less of it, the circuit is leaking, and charging without fixing the leak has to be repeated. The price follows a diagnosis.
The standard Elinge series runs on R-404A. The charge depends on the series and version — cooling only or heat-cool (T suffix):

The Elinge series is chosen by body volume: C07 — vans of 2.5–6 m³, C1 — 6–10, C2 — 10–15, C3 — 15–20, C4 — 18–28, C5 — 30–43, C5 max — 40–50 m³. That shows how much refrigerant a given vehicle’s unit holds. Table: which Elinge unit for which body volume.
The charging price depends on the unit series and the amount of refrigerant and is set after a circuit diagnosis: the cause of the loss is found and fixed first. Across 86 unit repair jobs with intake and release dates, half of the vehicles leave within three days.
