What goes on which body

The panel thickness sets the door opening, and the opening sets the seal and the lock. Hardware for a dry van and for a reefer is therefore not interchangeable.

The material is chosen by environment rather than by price: galvanised steel goes on dry vans, stainless on reefers and on vehicles washed every shift, because there the hardware works in damp and with road salt.

Items in this section are supplied separately from the body, including for bodies built by others. Selection goes by the dimension on the drawing: for a lock it is the tube diameter, for rubber the base width, for a bracket the length. The article number is needed only to confirm availability.

The isothermal 60 mm with a U-profile: 45 mm high, three lips 4 mm thick. On a dry van the opening is narrower and takes 25 or 30 mm rubber. Dry-freight rubber must not be used on an isothermal body — it does not cover the opening across the panel thickness, and the door lets heat through.

The rings are fitted in rows along the bottom of the walls, at a pitch suited to the cargo length. If the cargo changes from trip to trip, a lashing rail is fitted instead: its slot at 51 mm pitch lets the fastening be moved without drilling. The rail is mounted in one or two rows.

A compressor is a component of the refrigeration unit rather than body hardware, so it is not here but in the “Components” section: the TM13 at 131 cm³, the TM16 at 163 cm³ and the Sanden SD7H15 at 155 cm³ — for Carrier, Elinge and Thermo King units and for factory air-conditioning systems. Availability is confirmed with a manager.
