About sliding curtains

What it is for

A sliding (curtainside) tarpaulin opens the whole side of the body in one motion — a forklift places pallets directly, without ramps or double handling. That saves 20–30 minutes on every loading compared with a classic tilt with posts.

Design

A curtain mechanism on rollers in guide tracks, a reinforced front portal, and a fixed or lifting roof. The curtain is reinforced PVC with tensioners and withstands intercity driving and wind loads.

Who it suits

For hauliers with frequent side loading: beverages, palletised building materials, retail logistics.

How to order

We build it for your chassis or trailer. Quoted by dimensions and cargo type.

Sliding, curtain, tautliner — is there a difference?

There is none: the same structure is called a sliding tarpaulin, a curtain side and a tautliner. The sheet runs on rollers along a rail and slides to the front or rear frame, opening the whole side. Industry paperwork calls it a curtain-sided superstructure; classified ads usually say sliding tarpaulin.

Not to be confused with an ordinary tarpaulin on removable posts: there the side opens only by untying the sheet, and the posts have to be pulled out and put somewhere.

When a sliding tarpaulin pays for itself

Count the number of loadings. If the vehicle goes under a forklift once a shift, the gain over a post tarpaulin is small. Three or four times, with palletised freight, and a sliding tarpaulin saves 20–30 minutes each time — a full working shift over a month.

The second argument is the life of the sheet: a curtain on rollers is never taken off and dropped on the ground, so it does not tear along the folds and lasts longer than a throw-over cover.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about curtainsiders

Yes. The curtain and frame are fitted to the standard dropside platform and the chassis stays with the customer — from the light FAW T80, KIA Bongo and Hyundai Porter to KAMAZ and MAZ. Fitting is done in Almaty.
The same construction. The curtain runs on rollers along a rail and slides to the front or rear portal, opening the whole side. In industry documents it is a “curtain-side body”, in adverts more often a “sliding curtain”.
By loading speed. With a post tilt the side opens only by untarping, and the posts have to be removed and put somewhere. A curtainsider opens the full length in one movement — a saving of 20–30 minutes on every pallet load.
If the vehicle goes under a forklift once per shift, the difference from a post tilt is small. It starts to matter at three or four loads and with palletised cargo.
Reinforced grey PVC of 650 g/m² on a galvanised frame. Such fabric does not stretch in frost and holds its tension along the whole side; light 500 g/m² curtains stretch out faster.
On a curtainsider — less often. Fabric on rollers is not removed and not thrown on the ground, so it does not break along the folds and lasts longer than a throw-over tilt.
