The key thing to know about the JAC N200 before ordering a body: the chassis comes in three wheelbases, and the wheelbase decides directly what length of body will fit and how many cubic metres you get.
| Wheelbase | Body length | Volume (2.5 × 2.6 m inside) | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4,200 mm | 6.2 m | ≈38 m³ | urban and regional delivery, pallet loads |
| 5,300 mm | 8.2 m | ≈50 m³ | intercity work, chain supply, consolidated freight |
| 6,200 mm | 9.5 m | ≈58 m³ | trunk routes, the most volume on two axles |
Volume is calculated at internal dimensions of 2.5 m wide and 2.6 m high. The exact figure depends on the sandwich-panel thickness: the deeper the temperature mode, the thicker the wall and the smaller the internal volume.
Refrigerated van. The most common request on this chassis. For 38–58 m³ you need a larger unit — a Carrier Citimax 1000, a Supra with its own diesel, or an Elinj S5 max. Worth remembering: a manufacturer states a unit’s limit as a pair of temperature and volume, and a model that holds −20 °C in twenty cubic metres will manage nothing in fifty. A ready configuration is on the page for the refrigerated van on a JAC N200.
Insulated van. The same body without a unit: lighter, cheaper and with more payload. Chosen when the load needs protection from heat and frost but no active cooling. A completed project — the insulated body on an N200. If cold is needed later, the body takes a unit without rebuilding the van itself.
Dry-freight van. The most payload for the same volume: a thinner wall and no unit. For consolidated freight, packaging, furniture and appliances.
Flatbed and curtain-side. When side and crane loading matter. On a two-axle chassis of this length that is already a trunk-route format — supply, metal, building materials.
Axle load. On a long body the centre of gravity moves much further: load from the rear and you overload the rear axle; shift forward and you lose traction. We do the axle-load calculation before work starts, and it also determines where the body sits on the frame.
Weight versus volume. The N200 has the cubic metres, but the gross weight is set by the manufacturer: 19,980 kg. Everything the body weighs comes off the load. For light bulky goods 58 m³ works; with heavy freight you hit the weight limit long before you run out of walls.
Subframe. The longer the body, the more its connection to the frame matters. A galvanised subframe spreads the load along the whole chassis and absorbs twist on rough ground — and once assembled you cannot get to it, so this is not the place to economise.
Route. A truck of this length belongs on trunk routes and at large distribution centres. Access to yards and underground car parks is worth checking beforehand, not after the purchase.
The three chassis cover different weight classes. Here is what changes as you move up the range.

A practical guide: N90 — urban delivery and retail chains, N120 — regional routes and pallets, and the N200 — trunk routes and the most volume without moving to three axles. If you keep hitting the weight limit on an N120, the next step is the N200: there is nothing in between.
The Cummins ISD285 is an in-line six of 6.7 litres with 271 hp and 1,006 N·m from as low as 1,200 rpm. Torque matters more than power here: it is what decides how the truck pulls away uphill fully loaded and holds speed on a long climb without constant shifting. The eight-speed manual gives enough ratios to keep the engine in its torque band rather than straining.
Air brakes with ABS are the required minimum for a gross weight approaching twenty tonnes. The cab comes in three versions: SHORT, NORMAL and LONG with a sleeper. The last one makes sense only if the truck really spends nights on the road; for urban and regional work a sleeper is extra kilograms and extra money.
Counting by volume is awkward — count by floor length. A Euro pallet is 1.2 m and sits crosswise in a single row at an internal width of 2.5 m. Hence a simple guide:
| Body length | Pallets in one tier | Volume |
|---|---|---|
| 6.2 m | ≈14 Euro pallets | ≈38 m³ |
| 8.2 m | ≈18 Euro pallets | ≈50 m³ |
| 9.5 m | ≈22 Euro pallets | ≈58 m³ |
Two tiers hold twice as much, but only if the load allows it and the payload is there. In practice long-haul work runs out of weight before it runs out of space — so always check the pallet count together with the weight of a single pallet.
The price has three parts: the chassis, the body and the mounting. The chassis is bought from a dealer; the body and the work are ours. Body cost depends on length, sandwich-panel thickness, the refrigeration unit model, doors, lighting and fittings. We do not publish body prices: there are too many configurations and any “average” figure misleads. Leave a request and we will price it for your load and route the same day.
We fit the body while keeping the factory chassis warranty — three years or 200,000 km. COND is a factory with its own WMI manufacturer code, so we issue the full set of conversion paperwork and the entry in the vehicle passport. Production takes from 14 working days once the configuration is confirmed; longer bodies take longer, and we give the exact time in the quotation.
Footage from our YouTube channel. There is no separate N200 video yet, so the film shows the same body on a JAC N120.

We build and fit the superstructure on the JAC N200 chassis while keeping the factory warranty.
We build every body from our own materials: components and hardware — locks, hinges, seals and buffers — also available separately, for repairs.
