Refrigerated van on a JAC N56 chassis

category C−20…+12 °CCarrier unit
⚖ payload 3,445 kg↔ body 4,200 mm

A medium-duty reefer on our most popular chassis. The JAC N56 has a 150 hp diesel and a 3,445 kg payload with a 4,295 mm mounting length: a 4.2 m body sits on the frame with no overhang and no rework. This truck is chosen when a delivery “little one” is already too small and a seven-tonner is too much: retail chains, meat and fish, dairy, confectionery and frozen goods with out-of-town runs.

Who a JAC N56 reefer suits

A JAC N56 refrigerated van is an everyday workhorse: a 2.7-litre HFC4DE1-1D diesel with Common Rail and SCR delivering 355 N·m from 1,800 rpm — it pulls a full body uphill without strain. Six-speed manual, 3,360 mm wheelbase, 5,600 kg gross weight. Category C: this truck needs a driver with a category C licence.

What matters about a medium-duty reefer: 3,445 kg is the chassis payload, from which the weight of the refrigerated body and unit still has to be deducted. About two and a half tonnes of actual cargo remain — pallet territory, not just boxes. If you need less volume, look at a Kia Bongo or a FAW 1027; if more, at a JAC N90 or N120.

Refrigeration unit

We fit Carrier unit of end-mounted design — the condenser unit is moved to the front wall of the body, above the cab. The range is −20 to +12 °C: suitable for deep freezing, for chilled goods and for pharmaceuticals. COND is the official Carrier dealer in Kazakhstan, and the warranty and servicing are arranged at the factory. On request an Elinge or Kaida is fitted — the choice is made by budget and range.

Body

A 50, 80 or 100 mm sandwich panel of our own production, frameless — with no cold bridges at the ribs. A 4,200 mm body with hinged rear doors and a side door on the right, on the kerb side: on a round with 15–20 stops the order goes out through the side door without opening the whole load space from the rear, so less warm air gets inside. The floor and threshold are chequered galvanised, the rear doors swing back to the sides and lock there, and there is a folding step.

A JAC N56 refrigerated van by COND — a body for frozen and chilled goods

How this body is built

The vehicle is built on a JAC N56 chassis with a 3,360 mm wheelbase. The engine is HFC4DE1-1D diesel, Common Rail + SCR, Euro 5, 150 hp (110 kW). Gross weight 5,600 kg, so the driver needs a category C licence.

This is a refrigerated — a body with a heating/refrigeration unit; externally the body is 4,200 mm (chassis mounting length 4,295 mm).

Doors: rear swing doors + a side door on the right.

The refrigeration unit is Carrier of the Citimax series — model to be confirmed. Operating range: from −20 to +12 °C.

Why it is built this way

A side door changes distribution logistics: at each stop you open it rather than the whole rear portal — less cold escapes and the truck can park tight against its neighbour.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: Chevrolet Labo, DongFeng C31, FAW 1027, GAZelle Business 3302. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

FAQ

FAQ about the JAC N56 refrigerated van

We price it to the configuration: sandwich-panel thickness, unit model (Carrier, Elinge or Kaida), number and placement of doors, lighting, interior fit-out. Leave a request or write on WhatsApp — we send separate figures for the body and the installation. COND does not publish body prices: the gap between a basic and a fully equipped build on this chassis is significant.
The chassis payload is 3,445 kg, from which the weight of the refrigerated body and unit must be deducted. About two and a half tonnes of usable cargo remain. That is pallet territory, not just boxes: the JAC N56 is chosen when a delivery “little one” is too small and a seven-tonner is too much.
Category C: the gross weight is 5,600 kg, above the 3,500 kg threshold. If you need a truck for an ordinary category B licence, look at a refrigerated van on a FAW 1027 or a Kia Bongo — they are lighter and built for city delivery.
The frame’s mounting length is 4,295 mm, so the standard 4,200 mm body fits with no overhang and no rework. On this project: a frameless 50–80 mm sandwich panel of our own manufacture, with rear swing doors and a side door on the right.
The side door on the right opens onto the kerb. On a round with 15–20 stops the order goes out through it without opening the whole load space from the rear: less warm air gets inside, the unit spends less time pulling the temperature back down, and the driver does not walk around the truck on the roadway.
The unit works from −20 to +12 °C, covering deep-frozen, chilled and pharmaceutical loads. We size it with spare cooling capacity — in Almaty heat, with doors opening often, that reserve is what matters.
On this project an end-mounted Carrier: the condenser sits on the front wall of the body and the evaporator inside against that same wall. COND is the official Carrier dealer in Kazakhstan, so the warranty and servicing are ours. On request we fit Elinge or Kaida, matched to the budget and the temperature range.
From 14 working days once the configuration is confirmed. The body, the steelwork and the unit installation all happen in our own shop in Almaty. COND is a plant with its own manufacturer WMI code, so we issue the full set of conversion documents and the entry in the vehicle passport.
