A compact reefer in licence category B. The DongFeng C31 is a Chinese light truck with a cab-over-engine layout: any driver with an ordinary licence can take the wheel, it turns around in a courtyard and parks at a doorway. A 3.2-metre body 1.8 metres high gives about 7.7 cubic metres — enough for courier delivery, pharmacies, coffee shops and small wholesale, where a GAZelle is more space than you need but the cold has to be real.

More about the design on the page refrigerated vans.
The project is based on a DongFeng C31 chassis with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. The engine is petrol DK15, 1,493 cc, inline four-cylinder, 100 hp (74 kW). Gross weight 2,330 kg — a category B licence is enough.
Body type: refrigerated — a body with a heating/refrigeration unit, external dimensions 3,200 × 1,800 × 1,800 mm. That leaves 3,000 × 1,600 × 1,600 mm, 100 mm panel inside: the panel thickness is subtracted on every side, floor and ceiling included. Usable volume is ≈ 7.7 m³ (3,000 × 1,600 × 1,600 mm), counted from the internal dimensions rather than by multiplying the external ones.
Doors: rear hinged doors with cam-bar locks.
The refrigeration unit is Carrier Citimax 280, mounted above the cab. Operating range: from −20 to +12 °C.
This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.
We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.
If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: Chevrolet Labo, FAW 1027, GAZelle Business 3302, HINO 300. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.
A standard 1,200 × 800 mm europallet, single tier, no restacking. Internal dimensions with a 50 mm laying allowance — a pallet will not go in dead tight.
Inside 3 000 × 1 600 × 1 600 mm · 7,7 m³
The layout scheme is on the right: it shows how the rows sit and how much room is left.
This is a compact city reefer: a 3.2-metre body, licence category B, turns around in a courtyard. It is bought for courier delivery, pharmacies, coffee shops and small wholesale — when the load has to stay cold, the volumes are modest and the route consists of dozens of stops.
Payload in this class is modest, and the weight of the refrigerated body has already been taken out of it: if you carry pallets, look at a GAZelle or a Kia Bongo. If the load is boxes and crates, the C31 does the job and saves on fuel and parking.
Fitted here is Carrier Citimax 280 is roof-mounted above the cab — the condenser sits over the cab, the evaporator under the ceiling, and usable volume is not lost. The Citimax 280 is the entry model of the line, designed precisely for bodies up to 10 m³. On the same chassis we also fit Elinge and Kaida — we choose by budget and temperature mode.
A 100 mm sandwich panel of our own production, frameless — with no cold bridges at the ribs. The lining and the flooring are chosen to suit the cargo: galvanised sheet or food-grade plastic on the walls, chequer-plate aluminium or glass fibre with quartz chip on the floor. The rear doors are hinged with cam-bar locks; on request a side door is added — on distribution work it saves time: there is no need to walk round the vehicle and open the whole load space for a single box.
