About mobile shop vans

What it is for

A mobile shop is a van for travelling retail: a ready-made point of sale on wheels with a serving window, a display counter and a workstation for the vendor. It operates at fairs, in villages without shops and on weekend routes.

Design

An insulated body with a serving-hatch counter, shelving and display units for your product range, mains or generator power, and lighting. To order — refrigeration equipment for food, a sink and an awning over the hatch.

Who it suits

For farmers and food producers selling without rent, chains with mobile outlets, and municipal village-supply programmes.

How to order

Tell us your product range — we will design the layout for your trade. Chassis from GAZelle to JAC.

What a food-selling mobile shop needs

For meat, dairy and fish a mobile shop needs cooling: an insulated body with a refrigeration unit, or a display case with its own condensing unit. For vegetables, groceries and dry goods cooling is optional — display area and the seller's working comfort matter more.

The practical minimum for selling food: an insulated body, chilling or freezing equipment matched to what may be stored together, a sink with a water supply, lighting over the working area, and power from the mains or a generator. Surfaces must be washable, with no bare timber and no gaps.

Sizing the body to the range

A 3.2 m body on a light chassis means one display and one seller: dairy, baked goods, a farm range at a weekend market. A 4.2–5.2 m body gives two display zones and room for stock, so the vehicle works a full day without reloading.

Hence the order of calculation: first the product range and the daily turnover in units, then the body length, and only then the chassis. The other way round does not work — a chassis bought first forces the trade to shrink to fit.

By product

What determines the configuration of a mobile shop

The body of a mobile shop is worked out not from volume but from what is sold: each product has its own temperature and its own way of being displayed.

ProductTemperatureWhat determines the body
Meat and fishchilling and freezingrefrigeration equipment and a 100 mm panel; the volume is smaller than it looks — the display case and the unit take part of it
Dairychillinga chilled display along the side, with the seller reaching it from inside
Vegetables and fruitno temperature rangedisplay area and the width of the serving window, shelves in several tiers
Bread and baked goodsno temperature rangetray layout and dust protection; the body is closer to the bread van
Ice creama low-temperature rangeeutectic plates or unit на −18 °C, см. a eutectic van

Refrigeration in a mobile shop is an option, not a required component: dry goods take an insulated or dry-freight body, perishables take a body with a refrigeration unit.

FAQ

FAQ about mobile shops

The cost is made up of the chassis, the body length, the set of retail equipment and whether a refrigeration unit is fitted. A mobile shop for dry goods and one with a chilled display differ several times over, so the calculation follows the configuration.
On any chassis; most often a GAZelle or a JAC. Payload in this class is 1.5–5 t, and the vehicle category is B or C depending on the gross weight after the body is fitted.
By the serving window, the display case and the seller’s working area. An ordinary van is built for transport, a mobile shop for serving customers on the spot: the height of the working area, the layout of the equipment and the width of the window are set around the seller.
Yes, refrigeration is an option here. Meat, fish and dairy take a refrigeration unit and a 100 mm panel; vegetables and dry goods need no temperature range.
Yes. The body is built for a specific chassis and mounted on it, and the chassis factory warranty stays intact. The change of design is documented.
