What a the side platform gives you
A the side platform is the most versatile body: loaded from above by crane, from the side by forklift, from the rear by pallet truck. Side height of 400, 600 or 800 mm is chosen for the cargo: low sides suit sacks and profile, bulk cargo needs high ones.
Sides are made of steel or aluminium. Aluminium is lighter — a direct gain in payload — and does not rust from road salt; steel is cheaper and takes rough loading better.
