COND ice-cream vans — completed vehicles

Eutectic vans for ice-cream delivery and freezing: cold plates hold down to −33 °C with the engine off, side doors for each section.

How an ice-cream body differs from a reefer

An ice-cream body holds cold with the unit switched off. Eutectic plates inside are frozen overnight from a 380 V supply in 8–10 hours, and during the day they give the cold back, holding down to −33 °C. On a route that means the engine can be off and the ice cream will not soften — with a reefer the cold leaves as soon as the motor stops.

Hence the build: 120 mm walls, 140 mm floor and ceiling — thicker than an ordinary reefer — and sectional doors along the sides so goods go out at a stop without opening the whole body. More about eutectic plates on the page ice-cream bodies and in the section eutectic plates.
