Eutectic ice-cream van on a Hyundai HD78 chassis

category C−33 °C5+5 side doors
⚖ payload 5,000 kg↔ body 5,200 mm
This chassis is out of production. The Hyundai HD78 is no longer built, so this project cannot be repeated on that chassis. We fit the same body to current medium-duty trucks — we will find an equivalent for your delivery round.

Ten compartments with side doors, five per side, on a 5.2 m body and a medium-duty chassis. This option is chosen for long rounds where a shift has to cover many stops and carry a volume a light truck can no longer handle.

How this body is built

The body is built on a Hyundai HD78 chassis. The engine is D4DB turbodiesel, 3.9 l, about 140 hp.

Body type: eutectic (ice-cream van) — deep freezing, external dimensions 5,200 mm.

Doors: 5+5 side compartment doors.

Operating range: down to −33 °C (eutectic plates).

Why it is built this way

A side door changes distribution logistics: at each stop you open it rather than the whole rear portal — less cold escapes and the truck can park tight against its neighbour.

What is in the photos

  • Side with five compartment doors
  • Front seen from the side
  • Rear of the body and its end wall
  • The whole body, rear three-quarter view
  • The cab Hyundai HD78 and body
  • The eutectic unit under the body
  • The 380 V power plug for charging the plates
  • Ventilated floor mats inside the body

Who it suits

A eutectic body charges from the mains overnight and holds sub-zero all day with the engine off — the classic ice-cream truck and city distribution of deep-frozen goods.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: GAZelle Business, HINO 300, JAC N56. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

FAQ

FAQ about the Hyundai HD78 ice-cream van

A eutectic body has no compressor running on the route. Inside there are cold-accumulator plates: they freeze overnight from a socket and give the cold back during the day, holding −33 °C. The truck spends no fuel on cold, makes no noise at the stops and does not defrost at every one of them.
A full overnight charge of the plates lasts a working shift of urban delivery with a normal number of openings. The exact time depends on the outside temperature, the load and how often the hatches are opened — we calculate it for your route.
A 5,200 mm body with 5+5 side hatches. Hyundai HD78 chassis: a 3.9-litre turbodiesel, category C, 5,000 kg payload.
From a 380 V mains supply while parked, over 8–10 hours. During the day the truck runs without a compressor: the plates give back the cold they stored. A socket is needed where the truck spends the night — that is the only infrastructure requirement.
A hatch is opened for seconds and only over the section needed. Cold air is heavy and stays in the body, and the seller never climbs inside. On a round with a couple of dozen stops that saves both time and cold.
We price by configuration: body length, number of hatches, panel thickness, plate set. Leave a request or write on WhatsApp and we will send the calculation. COND does not publish prices for bodies.
COND is a factory with its own WMI manufacturer code, so we issue the full set of conversion paperwork and the entry in the vehicle passport.
