Ice-cream van on a JAC N56 with a roof-mounted unit

category C−33 °Croof-mounted unit
⚖ payload 3,445 kg↔ body 4,200 mm

The same ice-cream van on a JAC N56, but with the refrigeration unit moved onto the body roof instead of hidden inside. A roof-mounted unit does not eat into usable volume and makes servicing easier: you do not have to unload the body to reach the components.

Two versions of the same vehicle. We also have the same ice-cream van on a JAC N56 with an internal unit — there the refrigeration part is hidden inside the body. Which to choose depends on what matters more: usable volume and ease of servicing, or keeping the vehicle height unchanged.

How this body is built

The project is based on a JAC N56 chassis with a 3,360 mm wheelbase. The engine is HFC4DE1-1D diesel, Common Rail + SCR, Euro 5, 150 hp (110 kW).

Body type: eutectic (ice-cream van) — deep freezing, external dimensions 4,200 mm.

Doors: 4+4 side compartment doors.

Operating range: down to −33 °C (eutectic plates).

Why it is built this way

A side door changes distribution logistics: at each stop you open it rather than the whole rear portal — less cold escapes and the truck can park tight against its neighbour.

What is in the photos

  • Side with four sectional doors and unit
  • Side view, unit mounted outside on the roof body

Who it suits

A eutectic body charges from the mains overnight and holds sub-zero all day with the engine off — the classic ice-cream truck and city distribution of deep-frozen goods.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: GAZelle Business, HINO 300, Hyundai HD78. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

FAQ

FAQ about the JAC N56 ice-cream van with a roof-mounted unit

A eutectic body has no compressor running on the route. Inside there are cold-accumulator plates: they freeze overnight from a socket and give the cold back during the day, holding −33 °C. The truck spends no fuel on cold, makes no noise at the stops and does not defrost at every one of them.
A full overnight charge of the plates lasts a working shift of urban delivery with a normal number of openings. The exact time depends on the outside temperature, the load and how often the hatches are opened — we calculate it for your route.
A 4,200 mm body with 4+4 side hatches and the unit moved onto the roof, which frees up space inside. JAC N56 chassis: a 150 hp diesel, category C, 3,445 kg payload.
From a 380 V mains supply while parked, over 8–10 hours. During the day the truck runs without a compressor: the plates give back the cold they stored. A socket is needed where the truck spends the night — that is the only infrastructure requirement.
A hatch is opened for seconds and only over the section needed. Cold air is heavy and stays in the body, and the seller never climbs inside. On a round with a couple of dozen stops that saves both time and cold.
We price by configuration: body length, number of hatches, panel thickness, plate set. Leave a request or write on WhatsApp and we will send the calculation. COND does not publish prices for bodies.
COND is a factory with its own WMI manufacturer code, so we issue the full set of conversion paperwork and the entry in the vehicle passport.
