A refrigerated body split into two compartments with independent settings: frozen goods in one, chilled in the other — one run, no second truck. It runs off a Carrier Xarios 600 MT multi-temperature unit: an evaporator per compartment and an in-cab controller with two circuits, COMP 1 and COMP 2, each with its own setpoint. A 100 mm wall holds sub-zero, and the second compartment has shelving and opens through a side door. Gross weight stays within 3,500 kg — category B.
FAQ about the multi-temperature reefer on a GAZelle Next
An ordinary reefer is one volume on one setting for the whole body. A multi-temperature body is split by a bulkhead into two compartments, each with its own evaporator and its own setpoint: −18 °C in one and +4 °C in the other at the same time. That is one run instead of two and one truck instead of two.
A Carrier multi-temperature refrigeration unit: one compressor over the cab and several remote evaporators, one per compartment. The MT in the name stands for multi-temperature. Control is from the cab: the panel carries two independent circuits, COMP 1 and COMP 2.
The body is 3,200 × 2,100 × 2,200 mm and the wall is a 100 mm sandwich panel. The full 100 mm is there for the frozen side: at 50 mm the unit in the frozen compartment runs non-stop and still fails to reach its setpoint in summer heat.
The bulkhead position is set during manufacture to suit your product: how much space goes to frozen and how much to chilled. We mark it out at the order stage, before the body is assembled — tell us the split and we will work out the volumes.
No. The GAZelle Next A21R23 chassis has a gross weight of 3,500 kg — that is category B, an ordinary car licence. This is exactly why such a truck is usually bought for city distribution.
Through the side door — there is no need to open the rear portal and let the frozen side warm up. The hinged rear doors with cam-bar locks stay for the main compartment.
