A round recessed ring: the Ø86 mm cup goes into the floor and only the Ø102 mm flange, 19 mm tall, stays above it. The Ø13 mm bar shackle folds up for the strap and drops back into the cup when there is no load.
A round cut-out is simpler than an oval one — it is drilled with a hole saw, which is why this version is usually chosen when adding rings to a finished body.
