The FD underframe retainer is a bent Ø26.8 mm tube under the body that the open door hooks behind. Unlike a side-mounted retainer it holds the door by its bottom edge rather than its face, and does not tear the skin when the wind pulls at it.
The 400 mm projection suits a door folded back along the side. Fitted to vehicles that stand a long time unloading with the doors open — retail delivery rounds.
