A one-step slide-out ladder: folded, it tucks under the rear overhang and does not add to the vehicle's length; extended, it gives one step underfoot.
One step is enough on bodies with a low floor — on light chassis, where the sill is about half a metre up. The rails are perforated at 35 mm pitch, so the step height is set to the particular vehicle.
