More about the design on the page dry-freight bodies.

How this body is built

The body is built on a KIA Bongo K4000 chassis. The engine is KIA THETA 2.4, LPG/petrol, 159 hp.

Body type — dry-freight (non-insulated) body.

The floor is wooden. Doors: hinged rear doors across the full width of the opening + a side door on the left.

Fitted equipment: vertical posts inside the body, orange contour marking, mud flaps.

Why it is built this way

A side door changes distribution logistics: at each stop you open it rather than the whole rear portal — less cold escapes and the truck can park tight against its neighbour.

What is in the photos

  • The whole vehicle, front three-quarter view on the left, the side door body
  • Front three-quarter view, the cab and body in full
  • The left side along its full length with the side door
  • The right side solid, the hinged rear doors in the whole width the aperture
  • Inside: white clad sheet, wooden flooring the floor, lighting lighting
  • A batch of two vehicles, the rear doors

Who it suits

A dry van is about volume and protection rather than temperature: furniture, appliances, building materials, boxed goods, removals. The cargo is shut away from rain, dust and prying eyes.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: Foton Aumark (4.2 m), GAZelle Business 3302, HINO 300 (side opening), Iveco Daily 50C15. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

FAQ

FAQ about the dry freight van on a Kia Bongo K4000

No. The gross weight of the Kia Bongo K4000 is 3,500 kg, which is category B: any employee with an ordinary licence can drive it. For courier delivery, a shop or small wholesale that is the main argument — you do not have to look for a driver with a special category.
Twin wheels on the rear axle spread the load more evenly and keep the vehicle steadier when fully loaded, especially with the cargo towards the rear wall. If one tyre goes flat, the vehicle still reaches the workshop under its own power.
The chassis payload and the weight margin. The K2500 takes about 1,500 kg, the K4000 2,000 kg, on the same category B licence and an almost identical cab. If the body is the same but the load is heavier, the K4000 is the choice: its suspension and brakes are rated for more weight, so the vehicle is not working at its limit. A comparison of the two is in the article Kia K2500 or K4000.
So you do not unload the whole vehicle for one box. On multi-stop distribution the load stands two or three rows deep, and what is needed at the current address is often by the side wall rather than by the rear doors. Through the side door you reach it in seconds. The other case is a narrow yard where you cannot back in: the vehicle parks alongside and unloading happens from the side.
That is reflective contour marking on the body corners: at night and in bad weather the vehicle outline is visible from a distance. It is standard, along with the mudflaps.
Yes, on the Kia Bongo K4000 we build both an insulated van and a reefer — both are in the «Vehicles» section. A dry freight body differs from them by its thin panel: it protects from rain and dust but does not hold a temperature.
COND is a factory with its own WMI manufacturer code, so we issue the full set of conversion paperwork and the entry in the vehicle passport.
