A dry freight body on the medium-duty JAC N90 — built as a batch, the trucks identical down to the details, which makes them easier to put on a route and to service. Who the JAC N90 dry freight body suits

JAC N90 dry freight body are taken for cargo that needs protection from the elements rather than cold: furniture and appliances, packaging and paper, building materials, household goods and equipment. The body shields the cargo from rain, dust and sun, but does not maintain temperature.

The chassis payload is 4,300 kg, and a dry body is lighter than an insulated one: without insulation and without a refrigeration unit, more payload is left than with a refrigerated truck on the same N90. The trucks were built as a batch — identical doors, identical locks, one service routine across the whole fleet.

Body and lining

The panel is our own production; inside, the body is lined with galvanised sheet — flat walls with no protrusions, washable with a hose, and neither pallet nor trolley tears the lining. The floor is chequered aluminium: it takes the impact of a pallet, is not slippery underfoot and does not soak up moisture the way plywood does. The bottom of the doors is trimmed with the same aluminium.

Doors and loading

Rear swing doors plus a side door: on a route with frequent stops the order goes out through the side door without opening the whole load space from the rear. Under the rear doors there is a folding ladder: folded away it does not stick out beyond the vehicle, and unfolded it lets the driver climb into the body without a stand or a ramp. The doors are secured with rod locks: the rod presses the door at the top and the bottom, so it does not warp on the move and no gaps are left.

The body is built on a JAC N90 chassis with a 3,845 mm wheelbase. The engine is Cummins ISF3.8s5154 diesel, Euro 5, 152 hp (112 kW). Gross weight 9,030 kg, so the driver needs a category C licence.

Walls and ceiling are lined with galvanised sheet — the factory standard for a van body: it shrugs off moisture, takes a pallet-corner knock and is replaced in sections rather than whole panels.

FAQ

FAQ about the dry freight body on a JAC N90

A dry freight body protects the cargo from the outside but does not hold a temperature: there is no insulation in it. An isothermal body is the same body with an insulated panel: it slows heat exchange, so the cargo arrives at close to the temperature at which it was loaded. For cooling, an isothermal body or a reefer is chosen; for boxes and furniture, a dry freight body.
On a ten-stop route the order goes out through the side door without opening the whole body at the rear. The door is on the kerb side, right behind the cab: the driver steps onto the pavement, not into traffic.
A vertical rod with a lever presses the door leaf against the seal at the top and the bottom at once. The door does not warp under load, no gaps are left, and it will not swing open on the move.
Chequered aluminium takes the impact of a pallet, is not slippery underfoot and does not soak up moisture. Plywood is cheaper but wears faster on trolley work — we build both, depending on budget.
