How this body is built

The project is based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.

This is a insulated, sandwich panel; externally the body is 5,200 × 2,260 × 2,400 mm. That leaves 5,040 × 2,100 × 2,240 mm, 80 mm panel inside: the panel thickness is subtracted on every side, floor and ceiling included. Usable volume is ≈ 23.7 m³ (5,040 × 2,100 × 2,240 mm), counted from the internal dimensions rather than by multiplying the external ones.

The floor is anti-slip moisture-resistant plywood. Doors: rear barn doors + a side door.

Fitted equipment: a lashing rail along the wall, reflective contour tape.

Why it is built this way

Laminated transport plywood is lighter than metal, does not rattle under boxes and resists moisture thanks to its coating. A sensible floor for boxed cargo; daily trolley work calls for aluminium.

A side door changes distribution logistics: at each stop you open it rather than the whole rear portal — less cold escapes and the truck can park tight against its neighbour.

Who it suits

An isothermal body does not produce cold — it slows heat exchange with the outside. Such a van is chosen for short runs and for cargo loaded already chilled: bread, confectionery, drinks, groceries. Usable volume here is ≈ 23.7 m³ (5,040 × 2,100 × 2,240 mm) — the block above estimates the load in pallets.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

FAQ about the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter insulated van

It is the same sandwich-panel body, only without a refrigeration unit. An isothermal body makes no cold — it slows heat exchange with the outside, so cargo loaded chilled warms up slowly. A reefer creates and holds the temperature itself. If cooling is needed later, a unit is added to the body — the van itself does not have to be rebuilt.
The outer dimensions are 5,200 × 2,260 × 2,400 mm. Usable volume is measured inside: with an 80 mm panel that is 5,040 × 2,100 × 2,240 mm, about 23.7 m³. The inside is smaller than the outside by the panel thickness on every side, floor and ceiling included.
There are two insulated Sprinters on the site. This one has an 80 mm panel, FRP lining outside and inside, an anti-slip moisture-resistant plywood floor and a lashing rail along the wall. The other has a 100 mm panel and a chequered aluminium floor. An 80 mm panel leaves more internal volume; a 100 mm panel holds the loaded temperature longer.
FRP is a smooth surface without seams or rivets: it is easier to wash, it does not rust and it takes an impact better than clad metal. Inside, such a body is brighter; outside, vinyl wrap sits well on it. That is what the premium trim means — FRP both outside and inside.
The perforated rail along the wall gives fixing points for straps and load bars. Cargo is secured at any height and does not slide around the body in corners. On mixed-load delivery it replaces improvised bracing.
On delivery rounds with frequent stops the side door saves time: the order is handed out through it without opening the whole rear, and less outside air gets in.
Yes, the body is designed to take a unit — the van itself does not need rebuilding. An 80 mm panel suits chilled mode; for frozen goods a 100 mm panel is used.
