This chassis is not currently supplied to Kazakhstan. Hino is not imported into the country, so we cannot repeat this project on that chassis. We fit the same body to chassis that are available — we will pick an equivalent for your load.

An insulated van 6.2 metres on the eight-tonne Hino 500 — the base vehicle for intercity and distribution runs. The body wall is a 100 mm sandwich panel: at that thickness the cargo warms up slowly and stays in range for the whole trip without a refrigeration unit, provided it was loaded already chilled. The body is wide at 2,500 mm — two europallets fit across. At the rear are hinged doors with cam-bar locks, the opening outlined with contour tape, and folding steps under the sill: at a stop without a ramp the body is entered on foot.

How this body is built

The project is based on a Hino 500 (GD), model 1226 chassis.

Body type — insulated body, sandwich panel. That leaves 5,992 × 2,292 × 2,292 mm, 100 mm panel inside: the panel thickness is subtracted on every side, floor and ceiling included. Usable volume is 31.5 m³, counted from the internal dimensions rather than by multiplying the external ones. In a single tier that is 11 europallets.

Doors: hinged rear, cam-bar locks.

Fitted equipment: contour marking tape around the opening, a folding ladder and a rear underrun bar.

Who it suits

An isothermal body does not produce cold — it slows heat exchange with the outside. Such a van is chosen for short runs and for cargo loaded already chilled: bread, confectionery, drinks, groceries. Usable volume here is 31.5 m³ — the block above estimates the load in pallets.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: FAW 1027 (T80), Foton 5163, GAZelle Next A21R32, GAZon NEXT. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

How many pallets fit

A standard 1,200 × 800 mm europallet, single tier, no restacking. Internal dimensions with a 50 mm laying allowance — a pallet will not go in dead tight.

The layout scheme is on the right: it shows how the rows sit and how much room is left.

FAQ

FAQ about the Hino 500 (GD) insulated van

An insulated van has no refrigeration unit — it is a thermos: it keeps the temperature the load went in at and slows the warming. A reefer creates the temperature and holds it indefinitely. If the load travels chilled and the run takes a few hours, insulation is enough — and it costs less to buy and to run.
Time. The thicker the wall, the slower outside heat gets in: a hundred millimetres is the level at which an insulated body holds the cold for a full working day rather than a couple of hours. The price is volume — the panel takes ten centimetres off each side.
So two Euro pallets fit across. At 2,200 mm the pallets have to go in a single line, and the same body length holds noticeably less. On long-haul and distribution work that is the whole question — how many pallets went in.
An eight-tonner sits high and not every stop has a dock. The ladder folds out from under the sill and you walk straight into the body — no ramp, no step stool.
Yes. The Hino 500 (GD) is a medium-duty truck well over 3,500 kg gross, which means category C. We build category-B insulated vans on light chassis — they are collected in the “Vehicles” section.
