Insulated van body on a UAZ Profi chassis

category B100 mm panelstandard specification
↔ body 3,200 × 2,000 × 2,000 mm▣ panel 100 mm

An insulated van on a light domestic chassis — the case where chilled cargo has to travel not along the highway but through villages, building sites and dirt roads. The body is 3.2 metres, the wall a 100 mm sandwich panel: that thickness normally goes under a reefer, and here it works as a thermos — goods loaded already chilled warm up slowly and arrive in range. Inside, the body is lined with galvanised steel sheet — it is hosed down and takes a knock from a pallet corner without concern; the floor is laid with plywood. At the rear are hinged doors with cam-bar locks, and a folding step under the sill. The gross weight stays within 3,500 kg — category B, an ordinary licence.

The chassis here is a UAZ Profi — the badge is visible on the cab door. Such vans are also searched for as UAZ Cargo, and we build the body on either version.

How this body is built

The vehicle is built on a UAZ Profi (also listed as UAZ Cargo) chassis.

This is a insulated body, sandwich panel; externally the body is 3,200 × 2,000 × 2,000 mm. That leaves 2,992 × 1,792 × 1,792 mm, 100 mm panel inside: the panel thickness is subtracted on every side, floor and ceiling included. Usable volume is 9.6 m³, counted from the internal dimensions rather than by multiplying the external ones. In a single tier that is 4 europallets.

Doors: hinged rear, cam-bar locks.

Fitted equipment: ceiling lamp, folding step, rear underrun bar, reflective corner tape.

Who it suits

An isothermal body does not produce cold — it slows heat exchange with the outside. Such a van is chosen for short runs and for cargo loaded already chilled: bread, confectionery, drinks, groceries. Usable volume here is 9.6 m³ — the block above estimates the load in pallets.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: FAW 1027 (T80), Foton 5163, GAZelle Next A21R32, GAZon NEXT. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

How many pallets fit

A standard 1,200 × 800 mm europallet, single tier, no restacking. Internal dimensions with a 50 mm laying allowance — a pallet will not go in dead tight.

4europallets 1,200 × 800 mm

Inside 2 992 × 1 792 × 1 792 mm · 9,6 m³

The layout scheme is on the right: it shows how the rows sit and how much room is left.

FAQ

FAQ about the insulated van on a UAZ

A hundred millimetres is a thermal margin. A body without a refrigeration unit works by its wall alone: the wall slows warming, and the thicker it is, the longer goods loaded chilled stay in range. On a short run that makes it possible to do without a unit altogether, and if one is fitted later the body is already prepared — nothing has to be rebuilt.
Structurally the bodies are nearly identical; the difference is that a reefer carries a refrigeration unit on top and can actively cool. An insulated body only preserves what was loaded into it — it produces no cold of its own. That is why it is bought for distribution within a city and its region.
Galvanised steel shrugs off a pallet corner or a trolley, it can be hosed down, and there is no delaminated sheet to glue back. For distribution in crates and boxes it is the toughest lining there is. FRP plastic is chosen where a smooth white surface matters for food inspection.
Category B — the gross weight stays within 3,500 kg. No separate category C driver is needed, which is why such a van is often put on distribution routes where drivers rotate.
Yes. The 3,200 mm here is this project’s size; the body is calculated for the chassis and for your pallet layout. Tell us what you carry and in what packaging, and we will work out the dimensions and the weight of the body so the truck stays in category B.
Where the road runs out before the cargo does: district shops, villages, building sites, field facilities. A UAZ gets through where a Japanese delivery truck would bog down, and the body is still a proper insulated one rather than a tarpaulin.
