A 43 m³ insulated van on a HOWO T5G

three axles, 6×4category C43 m³fifteen pallet places
↔ body 7,500 × 2,600 × 2,700 mm⚖ payload 15 t

The largest isothermal van in our fleet of projects: 7.5 metres long and 2.7 high, almost 43 m³. Inside, two europallets fit across the width — that is 15 pallet places on the floor. The third axle spreads the load, so the vehicle carries 15 tonnes without risk of overloading an axle. The wall panel is 80 mm and the roof 100 mm, with extruded polystyrene insulation. The floor is anti-slip transport plywood with a 40 cm kerb. The body is designed for a refrigeration unit to be added later: if required it becomes a full reefer.

More about the design on the page insulated vans. On the same chassis we build a flatbed and dry freight body.

How this body is built

The vehicle is built on a HOWO T5G (Sinotruk), assembled in Kazakhstan chassis. Gross weight up to 25 t, so the driver needs a category C licence.

External body dimensions — 7,500 × 2,600 × 2,700 mm. That leaves 7,292 × 2,392 × 2,492 mm, 100 mm panel inside: the panel thickness is subtracted on every side, floor and ceiling included.

The floor is anti-slip transport plywood with a 400 mm kerb. Doors: hinged rear, glass-fibre skin, four hinges and two locks per leaf.

Fitted equipment: a double-rail lifting aluminium side guard, plastic wings, anodised aluminium trim and a three-step ladder.

Why it is built this way

Laminated transport plywood is lighter than metal, does not rattle under boxes and resists moisture thanks to its coating. A sensible floor for boxed cargo; daily trolley work calls for aluminium.

What is in the photos

  • A front-side view, the three-axle chassis and the 7.5 m body
  • The whole body from the side, 2.7 metres tall
  • The body side and the double-rail aluminium side guard
  • Front three-quarter view, the HOWO T5G cab
  • Rear part body and three-step ladder

Who it suits

An isothermal body does not produce cold — it slows heat exchange with the outside. Such a van is chosen for short runs and for cargo loaded already chilled: bread, confectionery, drinks, groceries.

We will build the same — to your size and your chassis

This body is not a catalogue item but a project we actually built. We will make the same one to your dimensions: length, width and height are calculated for your cargo and the chassis payload, rather than fitting the cargo to a ready-made size.

We also fit it to your own chassis: bring the vehicle, we take the frame dimensions, build the body, mount it and hand it over with the conversion paperwork.

If you are still choosing a chassis, we have the same body on other bases as well: FAW 1027 (T80), Foton 5163, GAZelle Next A21R32, GAZon NEXT. They differ in payload, frame length and licence category.

How many pallets fit

A standard 1,200 × 800 mm europallet, single tier, no restacking. Internal dimensions with a 50 mm laying allowance — a pallet will not go in dead tight.

The layout scheme is on the right: it shows how the rows sit and how much room is left.

FAQ

FAQ about the HOWO T5G insulated van

So you can carry 15 tonnes without hitting the axle limit. On a two-axle truck the limit arrives before the space in the body runs out: the volume is there but you may not load it. The third axle spreads the weight evenly — at 43 m³ that is essential, otherwise half the cubic metres would go unused.
Fifteen pallet places on the floor. Two europallets on their long sides take 2,400 mm, while the clear width inside is 2,440 mm — with a working gap for loading, a ninth row no longer fits, so some of the pallets are turned. Stacked in two tiers the figure doubles — the actual capacity depends on whether the cargo can be stacked.
Walls are 80 mm, the roof 100 mm. Most heat is lost through the roof: in summer it bakes in the sun, in winter it radiates heat upward. Adding two centimetres to the roof alone is cheaper than thickening the whole body, and the difference in heat loss is noticeable. The insulation is extruded polystyrene: dense, low in conductivity and unafraid of moisture.
Yes, the body is designed for it: the 80/100 mm panel is rated for sub-zero duty, so only the unit and evaporator need fitting. For 43 m³ we pick from the senior range — Carrier or Elinge С5.
Doors take the worst of it: they get washed, scraped and hit by road salt. Glass fibre does not rust from salts and needs no touch-up paint. The hardware is galvanised — four hinges and two locks per leaf, with the rear portal clad in stainless steel. Outside the body is skinned in white metal; on request we build a fully glass-fibre skin, which adds years to the body life.
The truck currently has a three-step ladder, and for loading from the ground that is not enough: the body really is high. The standard answer is a tail-lift, which mounts on the same rear portal. If you work from a dock, the height works in your favour instead: the body floor lines up with the warehouse platform.
The chassis is versatile: on it we build a flatbed, dry freight body, an insulated one as in this project and a full reefer. We match it to the cargo type and the budget.
COND is a factory with its own WMI manufacturer code, so we issue the full set of conversion paperwork and the entry in the vehicle passport.
