Loading. A van loads only from the rear; a tilt body loads from the side along its whole length, from above by crane and from the rear at a dock. The tilt comes off and an ordinary flatbed remains. You pay for it in sealing: a tilt keeps out rain and dust but holds no temperature.
We calculate volume from body length and internal dimensions: consolidated loads, building materials, equipment, pallets. The exact figure comes with the quotation for your configuration.
Yes, that is what the design is for. Take the sheet off and you have a flatbed for crane work and long loads. Putting it back takes the same time.
