Tail lift types and selection by body
The tail lift type determines where the platform sits in the transport position, whether the rear opening is clear and whether the vehicle can back up to a loading dock. In the diagrams the solid line is the transport position of the platform, the dashed line is the working position at ground level.
Dhollandia DH-LM, Cadro CD-QB
Cantilever tail lift
- The platform is attached to the frame behind the rear edge of the body.
- In the transport position the platform stands upright and closes the rear opening.
- Two lifting cylinders and two closing cylinders (Dhollandia DH-L).
- To enter the body from the loading dock, the platform is lowered.
Cadro Folding / Tuckaway
Tuck-under tail lift (folding under the floor)
- The platform folds and is stowed under the body floor.
- The rear opening stays clear: the doors open and the vehicle can back up to the loading dock.
- Space is needed for the platform between the rear axle and the rear edge of the frame.
Cadro Retractable
Slider tail lift
- The platform slides under the frame on guide rails.
- The rear opening is clear, and the body docks with the loading dock.
- Application: delivery rounds with frequent loading and unloading at loading docks.
Cadro CD-QBCZ
Column tail lift
- The platform moves on two vertical columns at the rear corners of the body.
- The columns stay on the vehicle in the transport position.
- Cadro column tail lifts are available in chain and twin-rail versions.

Tail lift for vans
- The tail lift is fitted to an all-metal van.
- In the transport position the platform sits behind the rear doors.
