Drawing and layout: crew bus 28+2, KAMAZ 43118

Drawing: Crew bus, 28+2 seats: KAMAZ 43118 (6×6), Ural NEXT — side view and plan with compartment dimensions and equipment positions
  1. KAMAZ 43118 (6×6) chassis
  2. Van body of sandwich panels, 6500 × 2500 × 2200
  3. Entrance door with a window, pull-out ladder
  4. Emergency exit door
  5. Windows: 12 pcs., 8 of them sliding
  6. Emergency ventilation hatches — 2 pcs.
  7. Double seats with three-point belts — 14 pcs.
  8. Heaters: autonomous liquid and 8 kW air

In the drawing the cab is on the left; the side view shows the left side, and in the plan the right side with the entrance door is at the top. The seats face the cab.

Vestibule 900 mm: entrance on the right with a pull-out ladder, handrails, heater, fire extinguisher.

Cabin 5600 mm: six 2+2 rows and two double seats at the rear wall — 28 seats. Between the rear seats there is a 500 mm wide emergency exit door. Two hatches, and a second heater at the rear so that the temperature is even along the full length.

The arrangement in the drawing is the base one. The number of rows and the positions of partitions, doors and equipment are recalculated for the customer's task and the usable frame length of the specific chassis.

Module design

Panel-type van body of multilayer frame sandwich panels. The outer skin is galvanised sheet with a polymer coating; the inner skin is impact-resistant FRP plastic, which can be washed and withstands blows from tools and footwear. Panel thickness is 60 mm, 80 mm to order.

The entrance door is single-leaf, insulated, moisture- and dust-proof, with a fixed window; it is located on the right in the direction of travel. The emergency exit door is on the rear wall, of the same construction. Side windows are sliding, of safety glass, fixed on the angled corners. An emergency ventilation hatch is in the roof.

The main heating is an autonomous liquid heater; the emergency one is from the cooling system of the chassis engine. 24 V lighting, a “cabin — cab” intercom, a fire extinguisher, and an additional protective device (rear underrun protection) on the rear overhang of the chassis.

FAQ

Questions on the version: crew bus 28+2, KAMAZ 43118

By the module length and the heating system. A 28-seat version needs a 6.5 m module against 5.5 m, and a single liquid heater cannot handle that volume in frost — a second, air heater is fitted, with an outlet to the rear of the cabin. 12 windows instead of 10, two hatches.
KAMAZ 43118 with an extended rear overhang or the 43118-3027 modification with a long mounting frame. The chassis is selected after the layout is approved: the module length determines the wheelbase, not the other way round.
Up to 3.7 t with seats, heaters and glazing. The payload of the KAMAZ 43118 is sufficient with a reserve for people and luggage; when air conditioning and a second tank are added, the mass is recalculated.
Only with a lengthened chassis wheelbase or on the Ural NEXT with a frame for a 7 m module. On a standard KAMAZ 43118 the reasonable maximum is 28 seats with a normal row pitch.
